Updated the project's Java version from 1.8 to 17 to leverage new language features and improvements. Changed the Maven prerequisite version to 3.9 to ensure compatibility with the latest Java version. Updated the Maven compiler configurations accordingly.
Introduced a new .editorconfig file to standardize code formatting across the project. This file defines formatting settings for general text and XML files, including indentation, line endings, and wrap settings.
