Auto-Type entry choice popup doesn't remember ordering #1684
Comments
Before 2.3 it was remembering the last order? Seems that the new AutoTypeAssociation model doesn't implement that |
Just tested again with KeepassXC 2.2.4. Easy fix for me: I'll rename my |
I have the same issue. Not only does it not save the last sort order, but also i would expect to sort it by Group, then Title and lastly Username. In fact, the order seems to be totally random and I always have to search my entry. |
Following up on my previous comment: Can I permanently change the order in the auto-type window? |
I do not think so. |
Please fix this issue 🙏🏻 i have many of autotype entries for specific applications and it is always a mess to find the correct entry in the auto-type popup. Would be so thankful! |
Recommend reading the user guide to see how to properly setup your entries to be used for auto-type. You shouldn't have to wade through hundreds of entries if properly setup with window associations. |
@droidmonkey some people, like me, manage hundreds of accounts for certain games. There's simply no way to further reduce the number of entries shown in the list. For a certain game, I have about 400 of them, because I need one account per item mule character. Yes, that's a thing. What's the problem with getting one of
It might not be a common issue, but the current sort order (date of creation) isn't what I would call an intuitive setting. |
It sorts by group name then by title by default. Does the search not work for you to narrow down your choice? You posted a long time ago, have you updated to 2.7.1? |
It does not sort by title at all, only by group - on all versions since the issue was opened. And yes, I'm at 2.7.1. Does it sort like that for you? This is what the default is for me. The grayed-out text is identical, so not sorted by title. Of course, searching works, and that's how I'm using it. All we're saying is, that It would be nice if it was sorting by group name, and then by title, because that's how it used to be and what makes most sense to us. |
Interesting should be sorting by title as well, must be using the "natural" list order instead. |
I feel the same way. The application is really great and it provides tons of excellent features. However, I cannot understand why such an essential setting is not possible for the user. I am also wondering and I can not believe that the list per default is sorted by the creation date of the entries and connot be customized user specific. In my use case I do not have hundreds of entries appearing in the auto type selection window as mentioned here, but I would also appreciate it to have this user-specific configuration option available. Please give this request a realistic chance as an improvement for future releases of the application. |
Hi, is there a release date for v2.8? |
No and it won't be anytime soon |
Since i upgraded to KeepassXC 2.3 the ordering of matching entries in the Auto-Type popup changed. It is now ordering by the "Group" column in descending order (Z-A).
If I change this to ascending order (or any other column) this setting is not saved for the next time.
It would be great if KeepassXC could remember my ordering setting again
Expected Behavior
KeepassXC should remember the ordering preference for the Auto-Type popup or (less intuitive) offer a setting for this.
Current Behavior
Auto-Type popup ordering always starts with "Group" in descending (Z-A) order.
Steps to Reproduce (for bugs)
Context
I have my primary accounts in a group called "000main" and secondary accounts in groups with different names. Previously this made my primary accounts always be the first entry in the Auto-Type popup. Now they're always last.
