dont know how to obtain the installer when its a zip #113

So I tried to install vivecraft this version/file here [vivecraft-1.10.2-Vivecraft-jrbudda-6r4-installer.jar.zip] but i dont know how to install it as im on linux and this one has all the right linux stuff because other people said it worked for them but i dont know how to get the installer pop up window/file for the installer as i have the zip and i extracted the files but i dont know how to get the installer.

Oh ye gods...
No. Forget that. Get the exe from the releases page on this repo, rename that to a .jar, and run that.

It says it can’t open file because format is not recognised.

You need to install java to run the .jar

I installed java but when I double click it it still just opens the folder of files is there a way to manually open the installer from the command line

And now it’s saying the archive format still isn’t recognised

To open from commandline run the following command: java -jar installer_file
Replace installer_file with the installer file name

It’s says unable to access jarfile vivecraft-1.16.5-jrbudda-7-5-installer.jar

You need to rename it from .exe to .jar

This is stated in the FAQ by the way. http://www.vivecraft.org/faq/#mac

You must not have cded into the correct directory then.

Could someone please tell me which directory the vivecraft-1.16.5-jrbudda-7-5-installer.jar file should be in?

cd Downloads or wherever you saved the installer to

can someone please help me when i try to run it says
Error: Invalid or corrupt jarfile vivecraft-1.10.2-Vivecraft-jrbudda-6r4-installer.jar
