Jack 2 / Supercollider 64bit incompatible #351
Comments
I've tried Jack2 v1.9.10 & v1.9.11 in 64-bit Windows10 a few days ago and also connected SuperCollider and Ableton Live use Jack2 portaudio option. It works without problems. What specific version of SC and Jack2 are you using? |
1.9.11 Jack 2 64 bit installer and supercollider 3.9.3 64 bit
I’m inclined to think it’s impossible you got this combo working as you’d
be the first person of a dozen! but if so, i will cry of happiness : )
registering jack 2 in the registry prevents the SC server from booting.
i have gotten various 32 bit combos working but i need supercollider 64
bit.
Thank u for the help! any further info is much appreciated.

Also in Windows you'd better use ASIO4ALL or other similar ASIO drivers.

Oops I found my SC version is 3.8.0 32bit because that's the only version with installer supporting supernova right now. I haven't tried 64bit SC, maybe there's indeed some differences between 32bit and 64bit, but there're indeed several changes from 3.8 to 3.9. And I'm not able to test 3.9 64bit on my laptop, sorry about that. |
Hey mate, don't bother, it doesn't work : ) This is just unequivocally an
issue that I hope someone might be able to fix one day : /
The issue makes it impossible to use Jack 2 if other applications like a
64bit DAW are useful, because 32bit Jack 2 won't work in a 64 bit DAW that
only supports 64 bit drivers.

but why using 32bit Jack2 for 64bit applications? 64bit Jack2 can handle both 32 and 64bit just fine, though I'm not sure what's the problem with 64bit SC. |
I don't use 32 bit jack. I think I already mentioned in a previous e-mail
i'm trying to get 64 bit versions working across the board.
BUT Jack 2 does work with Supercollider 32bit for those that are desperate
to get it working in SOME way (I'm just mentioning this in passing)... but
not with Supercollider 64bit. I need SC 64bit to work with Jack 2 64 bit.
Yes nobody seems to know what the real problem is or they don't have time
to fix it.

I hope it get fixed soon. There's no working alternative to connect SC (64x) to Ableton Live (64x) on Win10 64x. Strangely enough it works on Win7 64x. |
For the record, as someone said in another thread, Supercollider does not
support Jack.
So this is most likely not a problem in Jack. I guess they are using the
ASIO->jack bridge to connect to Jack.
Could the problem be as simple as the ASIO->jack bridge only supporting 32
bits applications?
Or even a simpler explanation, that there is only a 32 bit version of the
ASIO->jack bridge?

@kmatheussen no. It perfectly works on Win7 64bit with Jack 64bit and Supercollider 64bit. The problem is on Win 10 64bit only. |

Okay, great.
Just a small correction, and sorry for being a little bit defensive here,
but it doesn't matter whether you run 64 bit or 32 bit Jack.
And also please refer to the ASIO->jack bridge, because that's what you are
using here. This problem probably doesn't have
anything to do with jack.

I'm sure the problem is not jack. JackRouter works great as a 64bit in Win7 including SuperCollider. And it works even on Win10 with several apps except SuperCollider. I was reporting here asking for some idea. Maybe the jack community can have some idea that i can report back to SuperCollider community. |
And as you can see here https://youtu.be/6H63KxfT4NY jack 64bit works perfectly on win10 on several apps. It's just the combo Supercollider/Jack/Win10 64 bit that does not work. |

Hi All,
I'm desperate to find a working way to route audio from Supercollider
https://supercollider.github.io/
to my DAW Ableton 10.
On Windows 10, Jack 2 64 bit crashes Supercollider if you choose it as
your audio driver. I have heard that the 32bit Supercollider works with
Jack 2, but this is not an option for me because Ableton has discontinued
its 32 bit Live and that is the DAW I need to stream into.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Why can't you use 64 bit Ableton at the same time as 32 bit Supercollider?
Jack doesn't care if the client is 32 bit or 64 bit. Is this a limitation
of the ASIO-jack bridge?
