inside custom command was causing a problem when using the Ninja generator now the following works $ sudo apt install ninja-build; $ mkdir bld; cd bld; $ cmake -G Ninja .. $ cmake --build .

now the following works

$ cmake -G Ninja ..
$ cmake --build .
