Since we've upgraded Jest to v24, it might be worth looking into the improved typescript support and see if it makes sense for us to use: https://jestjs.io/blog/2019/01/25/jest-24-refreshing-polished-typescript-friendly#typescript-support

npm was reporting vulnerabilities, ran npm audit to to generate an audit report, and performed the recommended upgrades.
