The Interoperability Framework was developed during the IMPACT project. IMPACT was a project funded by the European Commission to significantly improve access to historical text and to take away the barriers that stand in the way of the mass digitisation of the European cultural heritage. The outcomes of the IMPACT project are sustained by the IMPACT Centre of Competence in Digitisation. The IMPACT Centre of Competence in Digitisation is a not for profit organisation with the mission to make the digitisation of historical printed text “better, faster, cheaper”. It provides tools, services and facilities to further advance the state-of-the-art in the field of document imaging, language technology and the processing of historic text.
