New features in Hydrogen 0.9.5
Hydrogen is now able to export each instrument to a separate track.
The new non-destructive sample editor allows for the quick edit of samples. It can be accessed by the "Edit layer" button in the instrument tab. A tutorial (with a german voice comment) can be viewed at youtube; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tq7QUHo-hVE
Each instrument has now a configurable midi channel and midi note. Hydrogen offers a midi output only for the alsa midi driver.
The new piano-roll editor offers new possibilities for users which are experimenting with their own samples or are using hydrogen for more then just drum samples.
Hydrogen 0.9.5 makes use of libsndfile to export songs to different multiple file-formats. The dependency to libflac was dropped because recent versions of libsndfile support flac as well.
A new timeline helps to compose songs with different tempi and adds the possibility to comment on parts with the help of tags.
The integration of rubberband-cli provides hydrogen with the ability to stretch samples to a custom tempo. The tempo can be set with the a timeline marker or via the new tap-tempo midi action.
Hydrogen 0.9.5 comes with level 1 compatibility for the LADI session handler .
The newly added Director widget displays the current songname, the metronome and (if used) the current tag in a seperate window. Tags can be set with the newly introduced timeline and may represent parts of a song like "refrain" or "intro". The director window is meant to be used maximized to assist a band or a single musician during play-a-long.
