I am not expecting this to be merged, but I think it works.
I don't know this code base, but this is just a first attempt to get the ball rolling.
Notably: the completion menu disappears after each keystroke with a is_incomplete completion list; It would be better if the completion menu did not disappear like in my video comparing helix to nvim-cmp here #9797
