Hichin Hackspace Inventory Plugin

A MediaWiki plugin developed by Hitchin Hackspace to track the location of our tools, equipment and consumables.

Rationale

The Hackspace uses a MediaWiki Instance for documentation. Before this plugin a page was used to track where things are, named "Where To Find Things". This method has worked up to a point, but something searchable, updateable and altogether more flexible was required to manage tool and component locations.

Initial Features

• Special Page(s) in the wiki to manage locations, tools and components.
• Parser Functions to display the locations of items on wiki pages
• Display location of things in search results

Potential Features

• Restricting user roles to Special Pages
• API to access data
• JavaScript interaction instead of server side rendering
