Islands are currently only rendered from zoomlevel 12, and the landcover changes did not change this. In fact, you see a tiny label on zoomlevel 12 (note that on this area is not loaded on @pnorman's server). We certainly should look at it, and a method similar to the landcover changes would probably work. However, the landcover change is already quite big, so I would prefer handling it in a separate pull request.
Anticosti Island is some 250km long. This is defined with a multypolygon relation that contains a label tag.
