you shouldn't, places are never linear |
Never say never... ; There could be demands for things like mountain ranges or valleys etc. to put a place name along a "path". If this would be implemented anytime... But I agree for closed ways. :) |
yes, but I'd expect them in "natural" not place cheers, |
there is no area=yes but sometimes landuse=residential |
@severinmenard check on osm-fr-test tiles, I've added rendering for place=neighbourhood nodes and polygons starting at zoom 14 |
@cquest what is the URL of osm-fr-test? On Fri, Aug 23, 2013 at 4:53 PM, cquest [email protected] wrote:

http://tile.openstreetmap.fr/?layers=0000B00FFFF Make sure "osmfr-lowzoom-test" is selected in the layers. As is it a test layer, tiles are not pre-generated, so be patient... |
OK no problem. Actually it is quite fast. On Sat, Aug 24, 2013 at 12:17 AM, cquest [email protected] wrote:

tagging place=neighbourhood tagged on closedways is allowed in the map features:
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:place%3Dneighbourhood
Eg this is the case for Khartoum, Sudan: http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=14/15.5971/32.4652
But the tag name is unfortunately not currently rendered.
Possible to add it from the same zoom level as the for the node tagged with both place=neighbourhood and name=*?
