The HDSDR software for Windows has separate options for receiver center frequency and demodulator frequency. I think it's a logical choice, although this might be a matter of preference. I find the default Gqrx frequency setting a little bit confusing.

I've been looking into this too, for #946
It can be done with a setting, to lock/un-lock the link between hw freq and demod offsets.
