I'm guessing not from looking at the docs, but this would be a great privacy boost IMO. For example, on the VS Code team, I want to set up a So if there was a way where we could use a hash of the user/email combo (using sha1 or something) rather than the user/email directly and Git could match against that. It would help improve that privacy. |

There has been some work towards such a feature, but I think it's not possible in any released versions (or the upcoming version 2.31.0) of git. |
