Application usage

  • Where can I find the current playlist/queue?

    • Swipe up the bar at the bottom (NowPlayingView) and tip on the list icon at the top

  • Where can I find saved playlists, bookmarks or settings?

    • Swipe from the left border of your screen. A wild navdrawer will appear ;)

  • How can I create a playlist or bookmark?

    • The workflow is to add the songs you want to the playing queue, open the queue (see the first question) and switch the view to show all tracks in the queue. Via the menu option in the top right corner you now have the option to save the queue as a playlist. The same way applies for creating a bookmark. In odyssey a bookmark is basically a playlist but it will remember the play position in it.

  • How can I add files to my library?

    • You can use the file browser to select the folder from which you want to start an update. The option is hidden in the menu (right top icon) of the currently shown directory.

  • How can I play all my music files?

    • Navigate to the all tracks fragment (third tab) and click on the floating play button in the right bottom corner

  • Can I exclude folders from my library?

    • No, the music library is scanned by the operating system. To exclude folders create a file called ".nomedia".

  • Can I jump to the artist or album that is currently playing?

    • You can, by clicking and holding the finger on the currently playing song in the playlist. Select the right menu item from there.

  • I have an issue playing some media files but they are working in VLC, should I report an issue?

    • VLC is using an own playback module and is not depending on the android system mediaplayer framework. If you can play these files with other applications such as Google Play Music please report an issue.

  • Can I play .opus files with odyssey?

    • Yes you can but unfortunately android doesn't recognized this file ending so you will only find these files in the file browser section of odyssey.

  • Where is artwork being downloaded from?

  • What is the meaning of Odyssey?

    • This quest should be solved by the reader alone :)

  • I like this application a lot, can you create a MPD client like this?

    • We got you covered. Look into M.A.L.P.
