For linux : Added an xdg directory to install desktop file and application icons.
This has to be manually install by the user with provided scripts.
There's also a script that can be used for packaging.
This addresses issue #40 .

Any feedback on this by the maintainer? I would also like to see #40 fixed.

Hi, there's some time I worked on this.
It works well and it is totally harmless to merge as it does not modify any existing files.
Maybe the maintainer wants some feedback of people trying it. I think he works under windows and therefore as it is a purely linux matter he didn't have the opportunity to test it.

You can try my fork if you want : https://github.com/wdaniau/fstl/releases
Also if you're under ubuntu there's a ppa : https://launchpad.net/~wdaniau/+archive/ubuntu/custom

@wdaniau is correct. I mostly work on windows and haven't had the opportunity to merge this. I do have a linux machine I can used, just haven't had the time to prioritize this. I'll see what I can do in the next week or two.

This should be good to go

Thank you. It has been almost two years since a release was made, would it be time for a new one?

Seems reasonable. I would, however, like to fix Debian packaging.
