I tried flatpaking mailsrpung from source a while back. The main issue lays in the postinstall which does some funky stuff. https://github.com/Foundry376/Mailspring/blob/master/scripts/postinstall.js as far as i can tell it probably needs to be rewritten from scratch. And the mailsync-enginecs cmake needs to be modified to not download dependancies at build time.
