I realistically don't have time to maintain this project, so I'd like to responsibly drop it.

Some options are:

find a new maintainer
bless a fork (roughly the same idea as Add colors for symbols and legend. #1)
document enough of the algorithm so that people can write their own

Any volunteers are welcome.
