What Is A Member Group And What Is It Used For?

Having different Member Groups can be very useful. It can be used in order to give people specific permissions, it can also be used to differentiate between people and their positions on the forum.


Creating A Member Group

Creating a Member Group can be done under a minute. Follow the steps below in order to create a Member Group:

  1. Go to the Admin Panel
  2. Hover over "Members" and click on "Member Groups
  3. Now you will see the Member Groups that have already been made by default and/or modified by an administrator on your forum, click on "Add Member Group"
  4. Here you can fill in the Member Group Name, Group Type, Required Posts, Permissions, and Visible Boards

Group Type's and Their Purpose

Group Types Purpose
Private Membership must be assigned; This type lets any staff have the ability to assign members to the group
Protected Only administrators can manage and assign; This type lets only administrators have the ability to add/remove a member from a group (e.g Only admins can add/remove people from the Moderators group)
Requestable User may request membership; If a user wants to join this group, they may request a membership by providing reasons as to why they would want to join
Free User may leave and join group at will
Post Based Membership based on post count; group automatically assigned based on the number of posts a member has
