Scenario Without the Change
Without this select, the program could:
1. Continue execution without the consumer being ready, resulting in downstream errors.
2. Block indefinitely, waiting for the consumer to become “ready,” even if the context has already been canceled.
3. Cause resource leaks, as the code would keep running without any purpose.
