@vadimkibana for followup work, we could accept an optional Error parameter, and use it to update the contents of a data-render-error
attribute with a message. WDYT?

not sure that I fully understand why we need in include searchSessionId
into key. The session id is the same for all panels inside e.g. dashboard.

What if we exclude searchSessionId
from the key, and do:
if (rerenderKey && keyRef.current !== rerenderKey) {
keyRef.current = rerenderKey;
onExpressionError();
}

Using the searchSessionId
as part of the key will give the user the ability to try again to load the panel by clicking the Refresh
button. Otherwise the panel state will be not be updated.

Added some questions but all works fine. Thank you
Good spot. There are definitely some overlaps between the two, which needs to be coordinated. Will check that PR and see whether it makes sense to wait for it, in case the new error rendering approach solves part of the issue here. |

…stic#144015) ## Summary Fixes elastic#143552 In this PR there are some embeddable rendering optimizations for the error case. Lens handles error states internally without passing to default `EmbeddablePanel` flows - this has been made explicit in the Lens `Embeddable` component. The embeddable was triggering multiple time the `render` method in both successful and failure case: while the expression component renderer had some debouncing/memoize optimization to reduce the effective rerenders, the error route had none leading to a total of 3 rerenderings (loading + some changes detected). In this PR I've managed to reduce the rerenders to 2 (loading + final state) with some gatekeeping on the internal state reporting. As for the `data-rendering-complete` the logic has changed to set it to `true` also in Error state, but I would collect some feedback from @elastic/kibana-app-services on this side to better understand the impact. Before this change the `data-error` attribute could be checked to detect the final state of the panel, but that introduces some problems for Lens panels for the error reporting, hence the need to have the `complete` flag changed. ### Checklist Delete any items that are not applicable to this PR. - [ ] Any text added follows [EUI's writing guidelines](https://elastic.github.io/eui/#/guidelines/writing), uses sentence case text and includes [i18n support](https://github.com/elastic/kibana/blob/main/packages/kbn-i18n/README.md) - [ ] [Documentation](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/kibana/master/development-documentation.html) was added for features that require explanation or tutorials - [ ] [Unit or functional tests](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/kibana/master/development-tests.html) were updated or added to match the most common scenarios - [ ] Any UI touched in this PR is usable by keyboard only (learn more about [keyboard accessibility](https://webaim.org/techniques/keyboard/)) - [ ] Any UI touched in this PR does not create any new axe failures (run axe in browser: [FF](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/axe-devtools/), [Chrome](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/axe-web-accessibility-tes/lhdoppojpmngadmnindnejefpokejbdd?hl=en-US)) - [ ] If a plugin configuration key changed, check if it needs to be allowlisted in the cloud and added to the [docker list](https://github.com/elastic/kibana/blob/main/src/dev/build/tasks/os_packages/docker_generator/resources/base/bin/kibana-docker) - [ ] This renders correctly on smaller devices using a responsive layout. Summary
Fixes #143552
In this PR there are some embeddable rendering optimizations for the error case.
Lens handles error states internally without passing to default
EmbeddablePanel
flows - this has been made explicit in the LensEmbeddable
component. The embeddable was triggering multiple time therender
method in both successful and failure case: while the expression component renderer had some debouncing/memoize optimization to reduce the effective rerenders, the error route had none leading to a total of 3 rerenderings (loading + some changes detected).In this PR I've managed to reduce the rerenders to 2 (loading + final state) with some gatekeeping on the internal state reporting.
As for the
data-rendering-complete
the logic has changed to set it totrue
also in Error state, but I would collect some feedback from @elastic/kibana-app-services on this side to better understand the impact. Before this change thedata-error
attribute could be checked to detect the final state of the panel, but that introduces some problems for Lens panels for the error reporting, hence the need to have thecomplete
flag changed.Checklist
