Edit a histogram panel, go to the Queries tab, change the option, save the config to elasticsearch or to a local file. The setting is not recorded in the JSON config file.

I'm not currently able to replicate this. Can you provide the JSON config for that histogram panel, and the options you are switching to/from?

I am still seeing this behavior consistently. I will work on producing a more specific example to replicate the behavior.

I've caught myself doing something in the last couple days:

  1. Load a dashboard from Elasticsearch
  2. Modify this, that, then click "Set as My Default"
  3. Reload and surprise! I don't see my changes
  4. Refresh furriously, restart chrome
  5. Realize that I'm still reading from Elasticsearch and not from the save that I just created

Could this possibly be what you're seeing?

good thought, but nope, i can make changes to other settings that persist, but not this one. i have exported the json and then viewed it, and have seen that the setting does not change in the json file, but other settings do.

I still can't replicate this, I've tried a few times now. Changes seem to persist to the JSON as expected and are recalled on load as normal.

Closing as can not replicate. Let us know if you're still affected by this
