Currently, if you have a scripted field defined and then use the scripted field in a visual tied to a dashboard, if you then go to scripted fields and change just the name of the scripted field (not its definition), the dashboard will throw an error and then you will have to go to the Advanced editor of the actual visualization to modify the underlying visState query for the visualization to update the name there. It will be nice for scripted field name changes to be more user friendly and automatically update the visState references for all visualization objects that have a reference to the previous scripted field name.
