This issue is to discuss and plan work for rollups v2 project, specifically how Index Management UI will display indices and data streams.

Rollups v2 API will not be compatible with the current Rollups API that is used in Index Management to query for and display rolled up indices. We need to discuss following updates to Index Management:

  • indicate that rolled up indices are 'rolled up by rollups jobs'
  • indicate indices rolled up by rollups v2 (but those indices will all be backing indices of a data stream)
  • indicate data streams with rolled up indices
  • differentiate between data streams rolled up by rollups jobs vs rollups v2
