macOS universal library support (#11) was added using a fork of the libpng source. The upstream source for this library cannot be used until the following two PRs are merged:

  1. cmake: Let pngpriv.h control most architecture optimizations pnggroup/libpng#575
  2. Enable Intel SSE in configure builds pnggroup/libpng#576
  3. [BUG FIX] Let pngpriv.h control all architecture optimizations pnggroup/libpng#613

Once these are closed, we need to update the source reference for libpng.

The required changes are now merged into the libpng/libpng18 branch. This can now be updated on our repo references.
