C Drive limitations #15
Comments
Hi...
Data, maps and projects can actually be located anywhere even on a USB
drive. Students will need to install the the templates, scripts and
toolbox. The installation includes creating a folder on the C drive called
MapSAR_Ex. This folder contains the template, scripts and other relevant
files and must be located at C:\MapSAR_Ex. However, I want to emphasize
that when new maps/projects are created they can be stored anywhere. Does
this work for you?
regards,
Don

Solutions?

Hi Don,
Thank you for the quick response.
I and the IT dept can install these files on the CDrive, but, once the
install folder is there, how do the students access the maps if they cannot
see it on that drive. There are strict limitations on our campus.
I've been trying to work through some of the tutorial. I thought that it
required access to the map doc in that folder.
Thank you,
Lynnette

Because the tool requires the data, maps, etc to be saved and modified on the C drive, it limits our use. Students in my GIS course are not able to save, access, or modify the contents on the C drive root directory. Solutions?
