As pointed out by Pierre-Louis Bossart, the dependency I added was broader than necessary, only Baytrail and Haswell/Broadwell actually need it, the others don't. At the same time, we have individual entries for the codecs that all have the 'select' statement but now don't need it any more. I ran into a build error with CONFIG_SND_SOC_INTEL_COMMON=m and SND_SOC_INTEL_MACH=y: ERROR: "snd_soc_acpi_intel_broadwell_machines" [sound/soc/intel/common/snd-soc-sst-acpi.ko] undefined! ERROR: "snd_soc_acpi_intel_haswell_machines" [sound/soc/intel/common/snd-soc-sst-acpi.ko] undefined! ERROR: "snd_soc_acpi_intel_cherrytrail_machines" [sound/soc/intel/atom/sst/snd-intel-sst-acpi.ko] undefined! ERROR: "snd_soc_acpi_intel_baytrail_machines" [sound/soc/intel/atom/sst/snd-intel-sst-acpi.ko] undefined! The problem here is that the sound/soc/intel/common/ directory is then entered only for building modules, but the sst-acpi.o never gets built since it depends on a built-in Kconfig symbol. That configuration obviously makes no sense since all options below SND_SOC_INTEL_MACH also depend on something else that in turn depends on CONFIG_SND_SOC_INTEL_COMMON. Adding a SND_SOC_INTEL_SST_TOPLEVEL dependency to SND_SOC_INTEL_MACH solves the build error. I notice we can also consolidate the 'depends on SND_SOC_INTEL_MACH' lines by using an 'if' block to simplify it further and make sure the configuration stays sane. Follow network example suggested by Linus, move Intel definitions in if/endif block and clarify in help text which options distro configurations should enable - everything except legacy Baytrail stuff and NOCODEC (test only) To avoid user confusion, machine drivers are handled with a submenu made dependent on this top-level selector. There should be no functionality change - except that sound capabilities are restored when using older configs without any user selection. Note that the SND_SOC_ACPI_INTEL_MATCH config is currently filtered out by the top-level selector. This will change in the near future to allow for this option to be selected by both SST and SOF drivers (simplification with submenu for machine drivers by Vinod Koul) Fixes: f6a118a ("ASoC: Intel: clarify Kconfig dependencies") Reported-by: Linus Torvalds <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Pierre-Louis Bossart <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Vinod Koul <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Andy Shevchenko <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <[email protected]> (cherry picked from commit c605987) Signed-off-by: samaga Prasanna Krishna <[email protected]> Conflicts: sound/soc/intel/boards/Kconfig Change-Id: I52ca6dc1b85f4f2dd32a216cfb42f915e07c559f
PCI/ACPI selections should not happen in Kconfig for machine drivers, move to SOC selections. Add distinction between PCI and ACPI HiFi2 platforms and help text. There should be no functionality change. The PCI-based platforms may be removed at some point since Medfield is not really supported by anyone, and with Edison now defunct support for Merrifield/Edison is to be determined. The dependency on SND_DMA_SGBUF for Haswell is not clear at this point and may have to be further updated. This patch fixes a number of issues: 1. IOSF_MBI is only needed for byt-cr detection, which is only supported on Baytrail/Cherrytrail, move to HiFi2 config 2. SND_SOC_INTEL_SST should not select SND_SOC_INTEL_SST_ACPI, the latter config is only valid for Haswell/Baytrail legacy but not needed by Skylake 3. SND_SST_IPC_ACPI, used only by the atom/sst driver, should not select SND_SOC_INTEL_SST, none of the code under common/sst*.c is used This nesting of configs really makes no sense, it's easier to maintain if for each platform one can control what is strictly required. Compiled-tested with each of Haswell, Baytrail legacy, HiFi2, SKL cases selected independently. 0-day and explicit randconfig tests did not report additional issues and no functionality loss was observed in Intel tests on HIFI2 and SKYLAKE platforms Signed-off-by: Pierre-Louis Bossart <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Andy Shevchenko <[email protected]> Acked-By: Vinod Koul <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <[email protected]> (cherry picked from commit f3f2bb7) Signed-off-by: samaga Prasanna Krishna <[email protected]> Change-Id: Iadb393e43cf4b829a89114f32c675e17bb4603a5

Sometimes the user wants to have device name of the match rather than just checking if device present or not. To make life easier for such users introduce acpi_dev_get_first_match_name() helper based on code for acpi_dev_present(). For example, GPIO driver for Intel Merrifield needs to know the device name of pin control to be able to apply GPIO mapping table to the proper device. To be more consistent with the purpose rename struct acpi_dev_present_info -> struct acpi_dev_match_info acpi_dev_present_cb() -> acpi_dev_match_cb() in the utils.c file. Currently, there are no pre-defined accessors for the elements in topology TLV data. In the absence of such offsets, the tlv data will have to be decoded using hardwired offset numbers 0-N depending on the type of TLV. This patch defines accessor offsets for the type, length, min and mute/step items in TLV data for DB_SCALE type tlv's. These will be used by drivers to decode the TLV data while loading topology thereby improving code readability. The type and len offsets are common for all TLV types. The min and step/mute offsets are specific to DB_SCALE tlv type. To keep things simple, let's expose two configs for SND_SST_ATOM_HIFI2_PLATFORM_PCI and SND_SST_ATOM_HIFI2_PLATFORM_ACPI, which select a common SND_SST_ATOM_HIFI2_PLATFORM option. To avoid breaking existing solutions with the semantics change, SND_SST_ATOM_HIFI2_PLATFORM_ACPI uses "default ACPI" so that "make oldnoconfig" and "make olddefconfig" still work as expected. …M_HIFI2_PLATFORM is enabled The sound/soc/intel/common/sst-acpi.c code only tries to load the "baytrail-pcm-audio" driver (and supporting board drivers) when SND_SST_ATOM_HIFI2_PLATFORM is not enabled, since otherwise these are handled by snd-soc-sst-atom-hifi2-platform.ko. Since these thus will never be used when SND_SST_ATOM_HIFI2_PLATFORM is enabled, building these drivers when it is enabled is useless. … link config. Machine drivers statically define a number of DAI links that currently cannot be changed or removed by topology. This means PCMs and platform components cannot be changed by topology at runtime AND machine drivers are tightly coupled to topology. This patch allows topology to override the machine driver DAI link config in order to reuse machine drivers with different topologies and platform components. The patch supports :- 1) create new FE PCMs with a topology defined PCM ID. 2) destroy existing static FE PCMs 3) change the platform component driver. 4) assign any new HW params fixups. The patch requires no changes to the machine drivers, but does add some platform component flags that the platform component driver can assign before loading topologies. Patch series "mm: Fix misuse of parent anon_vma in dup_mmap path". This patchset fixes the misuse of parenet anon_vma, which mainly caused by child vma's vm_next and vm_prev are left same as its parent after duplicate vma. Finally, code reached parent vma's neighbor by referring pointer of child vma and executed wrong logic. The first two patches fix relevant issues, and the third patch sets vm_next and vm_prev to NULL when duplicate vma to prevent potential misuse in future. Effects of the first bug is that causes rmap code to check both parent and child's page table, although a page couldn't be mapped by both parent and child, because child vma has WIPEONFORK so all pages mapped by child are 'new' and not relevant to parent. Effects of the second bug is that the relationship of anon_vma of parent and child are totallyconvoluted. It would cause 'son', 'grandson', ..., etc, to share 'parent' anon_vma, which disobey the design rule of reusing anon_vma (the rule to be followed is that reusing should among vma of same process, and vma should not gone through fork). So, both issues should cause unnecessary rmap walking and have unexpected complexity. These two issues would not be directly visible, I used debugging code to check the anon_vma pointers of parent and child when inspecting the suspicious implementation of issue #2, then find the problem. This patch (of 3): In dup_mmap(), anon_vma_prepare() is called for vma has VM_WIPEONFORK, and parameter 'tmp' (i.e., the new vma of child) has same ->vm_next and ->vm_prev as its parent vma. That allows anon_vma used by parent been mistakenly shared by child (find_mergeable_anon_vma() will do this reuse work). Besides this issue, call anon_vma_prepare() should be avoided because we don't copy page for this vma. Preparing anon_vma will be handled during fault. …init sequences The Slave device initialization can be split in 4 different cases: 1. Master-initiated hardware reset, system suspend-resume and pm_runtime based on clock-stop mode1. To avoid timeouts and a bad audio experience, the Slave device resume operations need to wait for the Slave device to be re-enumerated and its settings restored. 2. Exit from clock-stop mode0. In this case, the Slave device is required to remain enumerated and its context preserved while the clock is stopped, so no re-initialization or wait_for_completion() is necessary. 3. Slave-initiated pm_runtime D3 transition. With the parent child relationship, it is possible that a Slave device becomes 'suspended' while its parent is still 'active' with the bus clock still toggling. In this case, during the pm_runtime resume operation, there is no need to wait for any settings to be restored. 4. Slave reset (sync loss or implementation-defined). In that case the bus remains operational and the Slave device will be re-initialized when it becomes ATTACHED again. In previous patches, we suggested the use of wait_for_completion() to deal with the case #1, but case #2 and #3 do not need any wait. To account for those differences, this patch adds an unattach_request field. The field is explicitly set by the Master for the case #1, and if non-zero the Slave device shall wait on resume. In all other cases, the Slave resume operations can proceed without wait. The only request tracked so far is Master HardReset, but the request is declared as a bit mask for future extensions (if needed). The definition for this value is added in bus.h and does not need to be exposed in sdw.h Signed-off-by: Pierre-Louis Bossart <[email protected]> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/[email protected] Signed-off-by: Vinod Koul <[email protected]> (cherry picked from commit b2bd75f) Signed-off-by: Chintan Patel <[email protected]> BUG=b:153422295 TEST=No audio regression on TGL/JSL devices Signed-off-by: Curtis Malainey <[email protected]>

Instead, an internal buffer is allocated for getting the keys out from the read method first before copying them out to userspace without holding the lock. That requires taking out the __user modifier from all the relevant read methods as well as additional changes to not use any userspace write helpers. That is, 1) The put_user() call is replaced by a direct copy. 2) The copy_to_user() call is replaced by memcpy(). 3) All the fault handling code is removed. Compiling on a x86-64 system, the size of the rxrpc_read() function is reduced from 3795 bytes to 2384 bytes with this patch.

When that happens, usb_sg_cancel() may continue to access the transfer's URBs after usb_sg_wait() has freed them. The bug is caused by the fact that usb_sg_cancel() does not take any sort of reference to the transfer, and so there is nothing to prevent the URBs from being deallocated while the routine is trying to use them. The fix is to take such a reference by incrementing the transfer's io->count field while the cancellation is in progres and decrementing it afterward. The transfer's URBs are not deallocated until io->complete is triggered, which happens when io->count reaches zero. [CAUSE] This is because we're calling btrfs_join_transaction() without re-using the current running one: btrfs_finish_ordered_io() |- btrfs_join_transaction() <<< Call #1 |- btrfs_record_root_in_trans() |- btrfs_reserve_extent() |- btrfs_join_transaction() <<< Call #2 Normally such btrfs_join_transaction() call should re-use the existing one, without trying to re-start a transaction. But the problem is, in btrfs_join_transaction() call #1, we call btrfs_record_root_in_trans() before initializing current::journal_info. And in btrfs_join_transaction() call #2, we're relying on current::journal_info to avoid such deadlock. [FIX] Call btrfs_record_root_in_trans() after we have initialized current::journal_info. We have a number of "uart.port->desc.lock vs desc.lock->uart.port" lockdep reports coming from 8250 driver; this causes a bit of trouble to people, so let's fix it. The problem is reverse lock order in two different call paths: chain #1: serial8250_do_startup() spin_lock_irqsave(&port->lock); disable_irq_nosync(port->irq); raw_spin_lock_irqsave(&desc->lock) chain #2: __report_bad_irq() raw_spin_lock_irqsave(&desc->lock) for_each_action_of_desc() printk() spin_lock_irqsave(&port->lock); Fix this by changing the order of locks in serial8250_do_startup(): do disable_irq_nosync() first, which grabs desc->lock, and grab uart->port after that, so that chain #1 and chain #2 have same lock order. This exists even without my locking changes, so it needs to be fixed. Rework the search ioctl to do the pre-fault and then copy_to_user_nofault for the copying. …locator' Hou Tao says: ==================== From: Hou Tao <[email protected]> Hi, The patchset aims to fix one problem of bpf memory allocator destruction when there is PREEMPT_RT kernel or kernel with arch_irq_work_has_interrupt() being false (e.g. 1-cpu arm32 host or mips). The root cause is that there may be busy refill_work when the allocator is destroying and it may incur oops or other problems as shown in patch #1. Patch #1 fixes the problem by waiting for the completion of irq work during destroying and patch #2 is just a clean-up patch based on patch #1. Please see individual patches for more details. Comments are always welcome. Change Log: v2: * patch 1: fix typos and add notes about the overhead of irq_work_sync() * patch 1 & 2: add Acked-by tags from [email protected] v1: https://lore.kernel.org/bpf/[email protected]/T/#t ==================== Signed-off-by: Alexei Starovoitov <[email protected]>

…der memory pressure When destroying a queue, when calling sock_release, the network stack might need to allocate an skb to send a FIN/RST. When that happens during memory pressure, there is a need to reclaim memory, which in turn may ask the nvme-tcp device to write out dirty pages, however this is not possible due to a ctrl teardown that is going on. Set PF_MEMALLOC to the task that releases the socket to grant access to PF_MEMALLOC reserves. In addition, do the same for the nvme-tcp thread as this may also originate from the swap itself and should be more resilient to memory pressure situations. This fixes the following lockdep complaint: -- ====================================================== WARNING: possible circular locking dependency detected 6.0.0-rc2+ thesofproject#25 Tainted: G W ------------------------------------------------------ kswapd0/92 is trying to acquire lock: ffff888114003240 (sk_lock-AF_INET-NVME){+.+.}-{0:0}, at: tcp_sendpage+0x23/0xa0 but task is already holding lock: ffffffff97e95ca0 (fs_reclaim){+.+.}-{0:0}, at: balance_pgdat+0x987/0x10d0 which lock already depends on the new lock. the existing dependency chain (in reverse order) is: -> #1 (fs_reclaim){+.+.}-{0:0}: fs_reclaim_acquire+0x11e/0x160 kmem_cache_alloc_node+0x44/0x530 __alloc_skb+0x158/0x230 tcp_send_active_reset+0x7e/0x730 tcp_disconnect+0x1272/0x1ae0 __tcp_close+0x707/0xd90 tcp_close+0x26/0x80 inet_release+0xfa/0x220 sock_release+0x85/0x1a0 nvme_tcp_free_queue+0x1fd/0x470 [nvme_tcp] nvme_do_delete_ctrl+0x130/0x13d [nvme_core] nvme_sysfs_delete.cold+0x8/0xd [nvme_core] kernfs_fop_write_iter+0x356/0x530 vfs_write+0x4e8/0xce0 ksys_write+0xfd/0x1d0 do_syscall_64+0x58/0x80 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x63/0xcd -> #0 (sk_lock-AF_INET-NVME){+.+.}-{0:0}: __lock_acquire+0x2a0c/0x5690 lock_acquire+0x18e/0x4f0 lock_sock_nested+0x37/0xc0 tcp_sendpage+0x23/0xa0 inet_sendpage+0xad/0x120 kernel_sendpage+0x156/0x440 nvme_tcp_try_send+0x48a/0x2630 [nvme_tcp] nvme_tcp_queue_rq+0xefb/0x17e0 [nvme_tcp] __blk_mq_try_issue_directly+0x452/0x660 blk_mq_plug_issue_direct.constprop.0+0x207/0x700 blk_mq_flush_plug_list+0x6f5/0xc70 __blk_flush_plug+0x264/0x410 blk_finish_plug+0x4b/0xa0 shrink_lruvec+0x1263/0x1ea0 shrink_node+0x736/0x1a80 balance_pgdat+0x740/0x10d0 kswapd+0x5f2/0xaf0 kthread+0x256/0x2f0 ret_from_fork+0x1f/0x30 other info that might help us debug this: Possible unsafe locking scenario: CPU0 CPU1 ---- ---- lock(fs_reclaim); lock(sk_lock-AF_INET-NVME); lock(fs_reclaim); lock(sk_lock-AF_INET-NVME); *** DEADLOCK *** 3 locks held by kswapd0/92: #0: ffffffff97e95ca0 (fs_reclaim){+.+.}-{0:0}, at: balance_pgdat+0x987/0x10d0 #1: ffff88811f21b0b0 (q->srcu){....}-{0:0}, at: blk_mq_flush_plug_list+0x6b3/0xc70 #2: ffff888170b11470 (&queue->send_mutex){+.+.}-{3:3}, at: nvme_tcp_queue_rq+0xeb9/0x17e0 [nvme_tcp] Fixes: 3f2304f ("nvme-tcp: add NVMe over TCP host driver") Reported-by: Daniel Wagner <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Sagi Grimberg <[email protected]> Tested-by: Daniel Wagner <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <[email protected]>

The cortex_a76_erratum_1463225_debug_handler() function is called when handling debug exceptions (and synchronous exceptions from BRK instructions), and so is called when a probed function executes. If the compiler does not inline cortex_a76_erratum_1463225_debug_handler(), it can be probed. If cortex_a76_erratum_1463225_debug_handler() is probed, any debug exception or software breakpoint exception will result in recursive exceptions leading to a stack overflow. This can be triggered with the ftrace multiple_probes selftest, and as per the example splat below. This is a regression caused by commit: 6459b84 ("arm64: entry: consolidate Cortex-A76 erratum 1463225 workaround") ... which removed the NOKPROBE_SYMBOL() annotation associated with the function. My intent was that cortex_a76_erratum_1463225_debug_handler() would be inlined into its caller, el1_dbg(), which is marked noinstr and cannot be probed. Mark cortex_a76_erratum_1463225_debug_handler() as __always_inline to ensure this. netfslib has a number of places in which it performs iteration of an xarray whilst being under the RCU read lock. It *should* call xas_retry() as the first thing inside of the loop and do "continue" if it returns true in case the xarray walker passed out a special value indicating that the walk needs to be redone from the root[*]. Fix this by adding the missing retry checks. [*] I wonder if this should be done inside xas_find(), xas_next_node() and suchlike, but I'm told that's not an simple change to effect. This can cause an oops like that below. Note the faulting address - this is an internal value (|0x2) returned from xarray. BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000402 ...
