FMovies Post: Where did they GO?
The following is the thread which was eventually removed as well… The new Discussion Thread is located HERE
Codes been constantly changing lately. Either coder-alpha got fed up and removed it or plex removed it. Hard to say just yet but I would guess the latter.
I just learned that topics for plugins that provide access to sites that clearly provide access to content they do not own will be removed from now on.
Roku just stopped supporting Plex Classic 6-27-2018
Would have been nice if there was a little notice about this action and it was first passed as a new forum rule/guideline. But I can understand.
The question now remains is what happens when users discuss about this or other similar channels now that there wont be an associated thread with it. Should it be removed from WebTools too where users might find it and come here for support.
A lil clarity on this whole thing would be nice before all the yanking begins.
wow its just all gone??? and the not working primewire thread is still around?

Damn! Really!!? What will happen to Plex. Is it gonna be canceled?

This has been part of our community guidelines for some time now. In the section “Keep it tidy”:
Refrain from promoting or suggesting illegal activity. (e.g. posting methods to circumvent DRM or promote file sharing of copyrighted content)
I’ll let @BigWheel provide any further clarification.
There’s other places to discuss. Roku’s tightening up now that they are public. I find it pretty funny since their user base that made them popular wasn’t because it could stream Netflix. Plex will follow suit (apparently). Whatever, I get it, but users will move on to other things. I just find it hypocritical because they all turned a blind eye when people were buying their stuff, and now they are trying to go legit. Good luck.

How do you know it’s promoting or sharing of copyrighted content? Did you receive a complaint from the copyright owner?

This statement refers to the exchange of information and discussion in the forums. Things like topics discussing circumventing copy protection, where to download pirated content, plugins that distribute or provide access to pirated content, etc. Any copyright owner has the ability to reach out to us with a complaint, similarly to what they can do with Youtube and other services. Some cases require investigation while others involve just clarification.

Ahh. I see. Thanks.

I do want to point out here that if that was the case then for a very long time Plex was doing the same. One example was the einthusan service bundle (which was not updated anymore once I developed a dedicated channel for it). There might be some very similar in the current ones, whether they work or not is besides the point here.
As a matter of fact ripping a DVD/Blu-ray you own is sadly not legal (isn’t that DRM that you mention), not to mention sharing with family/friends so how does Plex explain its existence. Code by itself should not be take as such as well. The intent of the user and what his actions are should constitute that. If Google/Apple store gave the same reasoning… I hope you get my point.

Great… any forum that we can go to ?
Lets wait to get some more clarity on this, you can always head to the Github issue tracker for a channel in the mean time.
Plex does not touch DRM . Content going into Plex has to be DRM-free. Users are responsible for the content which they put into their Plex servers. If you require further legal clarification, I invite you to use our contact form and select “Legal.”
As for the statements in our community guidelines — they are specific to the forums.
Exactly my point.
Users are responsible for the content which they put into their Plex servers.
EDIT: …content and plugins just to be clear.
EDIT: I do want to mention that I hope Plex adheres to some consistency in enacting this – that’s all I’m debating here.
You cannot provide support for tools like makeMVK by your own employees (for ripping and do touch DRM content) because they are needed to run Plex’s core functionality i.e. centralized media library. In fact, Plex encourages ripping and since all DVD/Blu-ray are DRM protected you do need/encourage Users to do so.
Even the Plex support Wiki mentions several various tools used to circumvent DRM through out the articles. Perhaps not directly saying they do, but some are written in such a way as to be clear that’s what they do.
Is Plex getting rid of it’s plug-in feature all-together? (I shudder at the thought)
Let’s face it, even most of the “supported” channels that obtain content from “free” sites often do so in a way that goes against the websites TOS (due to not including the advertising within the content pages, non-direct access, etc)
EDIT – WOAH!
WebTools just got unpinned.
What the ****.
I now officially feel the slight conspiracy theories in my head is becoming true.
The largest parts of why I used Plex seem now being reduced, while features I’ll never use are being added.
My tinfoil is leaking.
EDIT – as did Find my plugin for support

You will never get them to admit that, lol.

Oh definitely… here’s one example of a popular plex channel, unless they got the permission.

Scary & Sad…

I unpinned WebTools
And due to the fact, that too many pinned posts, so consolidated them into READ ME FIRST: About the Plugins category
So now post new FMP release thread. I don’t remember the actual first post ever mentioning any copyright or DRM infringement. It was simply a collective of code to watch video.
I haven’t really paid attention to the plugin forums in quite some time, relying on mostly formerly Participated, and now Posted to show updates since my last visit.
I’m looking now.
I’m really having trouble understanding why the FMP post was removed, yet several other topics that I know quite literally have users mentioning illegal activity, at least for my country.
The FMP thread, or its author, never said anything against policy that I remember.
A few users posts might have, but I know I usually discourage that.
And even if so, an entire thread shouldn’t be removed. A warning to user would usually suffice.
I think it will be best to leave this discussion and move on to some more meaningful discussions.
Like I would wish they would address bugs related to Channels and Features we are keen on seeing.
My wishlist is:
BUG: Fix http-referer header for channels. This would benefit trailer agents as well as channels. More here http headers for stream
FEATURE REQUEST: Feature Request: Enable subtitles for Plex Channel
@dane22 can you please link this thread in the Find my Plug-In thread for FMoviesPlus so that users don’t pull off their hair trying to find that support thread.
Da Da… Can no longer enjoy comrades The Good Place and friends Better Call Comrade Saul… now what can freezing ass off Siberian do dunkoff?
This is a pretty lame move, Plex. I suggest someone creates an FmoviesPlex subreddit and discussions related to the plugin could take place there.
