Many people talk about permanently increasing playback speed, yet the usecase seems experimental? Personally I can imagine using it once we at least can set it by category or by channel, especially: exclude music #551
+optionally:

• skip useless silences Skip silence #921 ( based on captions and/or audio) (This could be a player button enabled per video only)

there are people that watch lots of youtube without touching music, so #2 is too narrow
this behaviour should be configurable anyway

Yes, mentioned as a it might not have false matches thus always welcome. (Or neutral for those who never click music, in case i can be executed with no nano seconds delay)

I think just copying the UX and mechanisms from Video Accelerated would be a good start, since it already saves speeds per category

although it no longer works with the newest YouTube UI "upgrades"

Yes. Each design can have advantages and disadvantages. Advantage if a user just wants some categories faster (gaming & entertainment). (Disadvantage if a user will end up clicking fornevery category)

copying isnt always easier (except for codes thats free(copyright) + updated + efficient).
So it can be most meaningful/fun/efficient to think/design/discuss a lot in advance.
