Make this a GitHub template repository #36
Comments
This repo is contains the general contributing links for all CNCF projects. Sort of a one-stop-shop to quickly navigate to contributing information for all of them. I don't think it makes sense to turn it into a template project. |
SIG Contributor Strategy was planning on putting recommended contributing.md, issue templates, etc here, which is what inspired this issue. It would be helpful for content like that to use the template repository feature. But perhaps that plan wasn't run past anyone who owns this repo? Let me double check with the SIG chairs before I start submitting content here. 💨 |
This is really meant to be a repo to encourage new contributors, does
adding new issue templates here help with that? I am not following the
intent here.

@carolynvs AFAIK it hasn't been. 😬 This was meant to be a one-stop-shop for people to discover how to contribute to the projects. It's an index of the various contributor guides, mailing lists etc. |
Oops! We can make a separate repository template that projects can use to start a new repository that follows CNCF recommendations with templates for issues, a contributing guide, etc. I'll work to get that created elsewhere. Thanks for the heads up! |
No worries! I understand how it can seem that way from the name^^;;; I think with that though, do you think this can be closed out? |
Yes, this can be closed. 👍 |
Awesome, thanks @carolynvs! 😄 |
If it is one, the new projects can click a button and get their initial repo set up right away.
