Removing exception in standard mode should work like in highlight

Follow up for #5683

Removing exceptions via collapsed selection should remove the entire exception (like in the highlight feature)

ps.: probably it should be possible to enable/disable writing with the exception on the edges (there's a bug in highlight feature for that).
