My name is Eyad, and I recently completed an internship where I worked with Dr. Ricky Magner on a project focused on understanding the mistakes in variant calling. During this internship, I developed and refined tools to enhance the accuracy and reliability of variant detection, a critical aspect of genomic analysis. My work included creating an Explainable Boosting Machine (EBM) model and a pipeline that automates the analysis of variant calls. This pipeline annotates overlapping regions, runs evaluations to classify variants, and helps identify and rank the weakest regions in the dataset. This project allowed me to apply my skills in data analysis, machine learning, and bioinformatics to address significant challenges in genomics.
