hey - sure this can be done - sadly this repo feels archived (the devs who own it might return one day)
in the meantime please raise this on: https://github.com/xiatechs/jsonata-go
we're actively maintaining it for the time being

and in future, perhaps can be reviewed and merged upstream when blues owners return
