[Support]: Replace server or add NAS? #10978
-
Describe the problem you are havingI run Frigate as HA add-on (on Proxmox) on a 6-year old Intel NUC i5 2.3 GHz, 16 GB RAM. Recordings go to a network share physically on a USB Seagate 10TB 3.5'' drive. I need to record 17 AXIS M3116-LVE cameras on motion. Even with 2 Coral USB (inference speed of about 25ms each) and GPU acceleration, I keep getting these errors, especially if it's windy or raining:
Is this a processing issue or a storage one? Do I need to get a better server or is it enough to use a fast NAS for storage? The speed seems fast, are there any other errors in logs. Can we see a screenshot of your system page in frigate ui |

Just for completeness, I removed the Frigate add-on and installed it as a docker container in a Proxmox LXC following this guide. No change in hardware.
Now it runs like lightning! Coral inference speed is down to 8ms and everything is super snappy, even long recordings playback.
