Opening this PR for posterity if this repo is used in the future; should help avoid bugs/maintainability + clean the console of Vue warnings.
This PR adds model for API request formats (intended to avoid the breaking bug we encountered Sunday)
Worked on Sunday morning and so is incomplete.
Merging eric/rewrite before this would make the diff view for this PR make more sense.
