Cycle 10

BSQ requested: 45970 BSQ

  • BSQ compensation: 800 USD / .67 = 1194 BSQ

[Growth] Bitcoin 2020 conference sponsorship

After discussions with major DAO stakeholders and lots of planning with @m52go, consensus was reached that Bisq should have a major presence at the Bitcoin 2020 conference in San Francisco next month, as part of Bisq's ongoing growth and liquity efforts.

Since this is the first time Bisq has sponsored an event like this, there were a lot of things to figure out, but we made it happen. The conference is being organized by Bitcoin Magazine, and they really went all out putting together our sponsorship deal. Here are the details:

  1. Bisq will have the largest size booth at the conference, with chairs and sofa, next to the Tor and BTCPay booths

  1. Bisq will takeover the full page back cover of Bitcoin Magazine's 2020 print edition, and our designer @pedromvpg is already hard at work on some early draft mockups like this:

  1. Bisq will be featured as a major sponsor at the event which includes branding on their podcasts, websites, newsletters, etc.

  1. Bisq contributors will get tickets to attend the conference (normally $250 each), and other cool stuff they are setting up for us (still planning)
  1. I'm fronting the cost of the sponsorship and reimbursing so that it both meets our $60K monthly DAO issuance budget for this cycle

This total cost for this sponsorship package is 30000 USD, which is the amount I am paying to Bitcoin Magazine for the conference sponsorship, and is allocated in Bisq's growth budget for events in 2020. Using the rate for Cycle 10 of $0.67, this comes to 44776 BSQ

While we had previously discussed splitting up the reimbursement over several months, @m52go had another call today and after calculated the numbers we realized that all compensation requests in Cycle 10 only add up to 34894 BSQ, so it would be possible to reimburse the entire amount of 44776 BSQ this cycle while still meeting the budget requirements of the cycle to not exceed issuing more than 89552 BSQ ($60K USD).

  1. Additionally, to reduce the "available BSQ supply" line item, I will be locking up the reimbursed BSQ for my Bonded Roles after the BSQ becomes issued in the next cycle:
  1. We will also sell Bisq branded merchandise at the conference booth

We are planning to sell merch at the booth using BTCPay over Tor. No Fiat Accepted. Bitcoin Only.

The designs and details haven't been finalized yet, but all net profits will go to the Bisq DAO via a buy and burn BSQ transaction similar how to the Burning Man does each month.

It is a kind of last minute change, but yes it wouldn't exceed the budget in this cycle and would be deducted from the growth budget for the next 12 months. I personally would be fine with this, still would be good to get the 👍 of @cbeams as well.

I'll give this a 👍 as well, on the grounds that it all comes in under budget for this cycle and that this will allow Wiz to put up his outstanding bonds that much more quickly.

Please go ahead with your DAO proposal submission and paste the tx id here when complete.
