For the future -- since pip installing from github is not an ideal solution. Brought up by @wasade during code review today (thanks!)

For reference, there is a PyPI entry for empress set up at https://pypi.org/project/empress/, but it's pretty old.

Similarly, we should add eventually an entry in the QIIME 2 plugin library up at https://library.qiime2.org/plugins/.
