Also report bed extent in projected coordinates, to facilitate creation of a matching landscape model. (Inverse of setting extent to match route model to existing landscape.)

Ideally, extent report should be easy to plug in to other imagery/DEM data sources (like http://earthexplorer.usgs.gov/). Ironically, raw GMaps spherical mercator meters may not be too useful in this regard.
