Unable to build APS in Android Studio terminal since this morning

I git-pulled the latest changes today. Now, the build process terminates early:

$ ./gradlew assembleFreeDebug
Error: Could not find or load main class org.gradle.wrapper.GradleWrapperMain
Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.gradle.wrapper.GradleWrapperMain

I tried git clean -d -x -f and also a fresh clone, but it did not help. What do I need to do?

I can't reproduce this, and CI still passes so clearly things are fine there as well. I'd try using a newer Java from https://adoptium.net

I rebuilt ./gradle/wrapper/gradle-wrapper.jar for gradle-8.10 which fixed the problem:

$ gradle wrapper --gradle-version 8.10 --gradle-distribution-sha256-sum 5b9c5eb3f9fc2c94abaea57d90bd78747ca117ddbbf96c859d3741181a12bf2a

I had to first install gradle (v8.7) on my system, then I ran the command above in the Android Studio terminal in the APS source root directory.

That's quite odd, the wrapper is validated by our CI to be the exact one released by Gradle. Running the same command on my machine produced no changes.

It was my fault. A while back, I aliased cd to something else which now causes the updated gradlew script to fail. After unaliasing cd everything is ok again. I apologise for the trouble I made. I will close the topic. Thank you for your feedback! And again sorry for the noise.
