Going agile is getting more and more popular with companies and teams. It puts people first and promotes velocity as well as adaptability to changes in the process. Though scaling agile beyond single teams and projects also adds new challenges to tackle. Coordinating teams, managing skills and budget are some of the biggest challenges when scaling agile, as scaling beyond single teams and projects adds complexity.
By unifying coordination and communication through our “Agile Planning Platform” we want to enable any company to be able to scale agile. To help make existing processes and projects agile by using SCRUM we will offer our product as a plugin in Jira. Our product consists of three parts: a capacity planner, a skill database and a budget planner.
Our capacity planner will leverage a company to a more efficient resource planning by offering a single tool for communication between teams. This tool enables transparency between teams by visualizing, consolidating and standardizing planning information throughout the company. It also benefits teams as the transparent planning process avoids both work overload as well as idle times. Further, it will make sprints more time efficient by optimizing coordination.
The skill database will aggregate the employees skills inside a single database. It enables discovery of unused efficiency by making unknown employee skills accessible to be discovered. Furthermore, decentralized communication can be avoided by centralizing the knowledge in one database.
Lastly, our budget planner enables reallocation of unused budgets by giving an overview of the budget distribution inside a company. The overview will help finding high priority projects or products which may not be implemented due to insufficient budgets as well as low priority projects and products which can be postponed.
Our project mission is to develop the calendar feature as envisioned by the business partner so the users can organize in teams and manage/assign tasks thtrough the use of requests. Teams assigned to tasks after accepting a request are shown in a calendar overview that utilizes bar-elements and colors to display the exact intervalls and available time windows so the user can more effectively allocate resources and structure timelines. The user interface is strongly bound to the Atlassian design guide and uses the native Atlassian design objects whenever possible. Team and member entities contain the required information so the user is enabled to make well informed decisions
