Ack, forgot to post content!

It'd be neat if you could tab into the widget (set tabindex attr to 0 to do this) and then once focused left/right arrow keys are bound to paging next/prev.

Rudimentary support for this is now available in 456bdb1 on the feature branch. I haven't yet merged it into master, but I have published the code on the GitHub pages at http://abitgone.github.com/jQuery-Plugins/Carousel if you want to test it out.

e.PreventDefault() doesn't seem to be preventing the page from scrolling though. I'll need to look into it further.
