Issue with Ubuntu install instructions #179
Comments
Which version of Ubuntu are you trying this on? yubikey-manager-qt 1.1.1 is currently available in bionic, cosmic and disco. |
I just tried the exact same thing and got the exact same problem.
Is Ubuntu 16.04 not supported by Yubico anymore? I as a user would expect it to be supported as ubuntu EOL itself. |
I however was able to run the AppImage Version, available for download here: https://www.yubico.com/products/services-software/download/yubikey-manager/ |
This latest version of the GUI is not published on the Ubuntu 16.04 PPA anymore, since it requires Qt 5.9. The command line tool is till getting updates there. The AppImage is the recommended way to run the GUI on Ubuntu 16.04. |
Very disappointed after purchasing yubikey only to find i can't use it on ubuntu 20.04.2 |
@savaged the AppImage version should work on all OS versions: https://www.yubico.com/products/services-software/download/yubikey-manager/ See here how to run an app image: https://docs.appimage.org/introduction/quickstart.html#ref-how-to-run-appimage |
Shouldn't the docs be updated to make it more clear that's the main (only)
option? Also, it would be good to help folks work out how to install and
launch the AppImage

Hi,
Step 3 in the Ubuntu install instructions says:
I receive the following error:
I have successfully added the PPA and am able to install other programs such as yubikey-personalization-gui & yubioath-desktop
Can you suggest how to proceed?
Thanks heaps,
Darren
