There are many ways in which you can contribute to the Lexicon. You can add definitions yourself; you can correct typos and other mistakes in existing definitions; you can send definitions for us to add; you can suggest sources by adding them to our Zotero account, etc.
In the long run, it’s my ambition to post comprehensive workflows for all those ways to contribute. But for now, I’ll focus on the most important way: contributing your own definitions to the Lexicon by using GitHub.
This tutorial takes you through four simple steps for adding a definition to the Lexicon. Some of those steps you may even be able to skip.
At this point though, the tutorial does require that you already know how GitHub works. How to fork this repo, how to stage and commit changes, and how to push them to me, so I can review and accept them.
Again, it’s my ambition to also describe a workflow for doing all those things from scratch. That way new researchers In the field have an easy way to learn how to use GitHub and Atom. But that is for later, hopefully the near future.
tl;dr: For a trimmed down quick reference version of these four steps, please check out our CONTRIBUTING.md file.
Enjoy!
