Steam client cannot run on Ubuntu 22.04 #9763
Comments
This is a bug that's been going on throughout various different Linux versions like Gentoo and Arch. Best workaround I can think of currently is to try |
@T0m0ko it works, thank you. |
You're welcome. Hopefully, network services work on your end because I haven't been able to login though it's probably because they moved their assets to the new UI. |
Same problem that just happened here. Pop OS 22.04 (Base Ubuntu 22.04) - NVidia GTX 1650 $ steam (process:31076): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: 20:13:02.861: g_object_ref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed (process:31076): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: 20:13:02.861: g_object_unref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed (steam:31076): Gtk-WARNING **: 20:13:03.203: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "adwaita", (steam:31076): Gtk-WARNING **: 20:13:03.204: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "adwaita", (steam:31076): Gtk-WARNING **: 20:13:04.608: gtk_disable_setlocale() must be called before gtk_init() (steam:31076): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: 20:13:07.878: g_object_ref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed (steam:31076): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: 20:13:07.878: g_object_unref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed |
Same problem here... Ubuntu 22.04.02
|
The same problem |
Same issue here on Linux Mint 21.1 (base Ubuntu 22.04). The steam -vgui workaround is effective, but appears to break the Friends list. |
One more thing i should clarify though it is not a solution. I heard that setting it to the mini layout on steam should potientially resolve the problem. It didn't work for me but if it works for you on the new UI you can try that |
same problem here, any solution? |
The solution to the problem can be found here: #9780 (comment) |
