So I keep a tagged tree of NCEP NAWIPS, so that I can build code diffs to see about what should be merged into Unidata's tree. Looking at the gempak/tables/grid directory, it appears that none of this content has been updated by NAWIPS since at least 7.5.1 release. So I should not have taken this directory when updating Unidata GEMPAK :(
