This plugin contains:
- The original CALDERA mode in plugin form
- This includes multiple REST API endpoints, an agent and a RAT and a GUI component.
This plugin will allow you to run operations on Windows hosts only.
To use this plugin, you must have a Mongo database installed and running locally. Detailed MongoDB Server installation instructions can be found here: https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/installation/#mongodb-community-edition-installation-tutorials
If installing/using this plugin offline, make sure to download the necessary dependencies:
pip download -r caldera/plugins/adversary/requirements.txt --dest /caldera/python_deps
Please note, this plugin also requires that you load the GUI plugin with it.
Operations run through the Adversary Plugin generate logs in the BRAWL Shared Format (BSF). More information about this format can be found here. Please note that CALDERA's BSF download produces an ordered collection of BSF objects (other header information, such as 'game_id' and 'bsf_version', is handled elsewhere). Excerpts from an example CALDERA generated BSF log are documented here as an example of how to read and reference the format.

In order for Adversary Mode to move laterally through the network and successfully leverage PowerSploit tools, several security features of Windows 10 must be turned off. We have provided a simple powershell script below to disable those features; it has been tested on Windows 10 (up to 1904) and Server 2012. This script will do a couple things:
- Disable credential protections and enable clear text caching
- Open RPC and SMB firewall ports
- Create an exploitable service for privilege escalation
- Seed flags for exfiltration
- Enable remote SAM access for Users
- Administrator or NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM privileges
- Powershell
- Save the below script as a .ps1 file (soften.ps1)
- Open an Administrator powershell session
- Execute the script (./soften.ps1)
This script has been tested on limited Windows distributions (but it should work on most versions). THIS WILL DISABLE CRITICAL SECURITY FEATURES ON WINDOWS - USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
$currentPrincipal = New-Object Security.Principal.WindowsPrincipal([Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity]::GetCurrent())
if(!$currentPrincipal.IsInRole([Security.Principal.WindowsBuiltInRole]::Administrator)) {
throw "You must run this script as Administrator or NT_AUTHORITY/SYSTEM"
}
