Describe the feature you want

The ability to set the maximum number of videos from one channel that can appear in a Feed. Maybe a global default setting and a per Feed setting, if it's feasible?

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe it

The old What's New tab only showed the latest video from every subscribed channel. The new Feed UI goes the other extreme way and shows all recent videos by a channel. This means for certain channels like news media or other frequent uploaders, a bunch of videos from the same few channels could dominate the feed, burying other videos in their midst.

How will you/everyone benefit from this feature?

De-cluttered feeds, especially the new What's New feed.

I already saw this proposal, but maybe it was just a comment.

Yes...this was my suggested solution:

"although the new feed UI has been a long awaited feature.. old feed UI definitely had its uses... combining both would be really awesome
I would suggest to add swipe left and right (like the one used between comments and related videos) to switch between two panels
-the first panel is used for listing feeds by upload time (new feed UI)
-the second panel will show latest video from each channel (old feed UI).. i would also like the ability added to go to any channel from here directly.. maybe by adding channel icon next to its related video or by an option in video menu.

if the swiping solution is not easy.. maybe a tab next to feed refresh bar would do the trick... or maybe make two tabs above the feed refresh bar, one called (new videos) and another called (channels).

also maybe you can make it an option (toggle) to have it in settings... same as comments toggle.

if you want I can make a simple sketch.

I actually took it from here: #719. It is a collection of feature requests, most of which have been implemented or are about to be. Doesn't follow the one issue per bug/feature rule, though, so I opened this for the easy "fixes" linkage.

@MD77MD adding two panels to do roughly the same thing would be confusing for new users, and would also just be a niche feature that can be found only by digging through menus. Also, the old ui does not let choose a customizable amount of videos per channel.

I understand... no problem 😊

I completely echo OPs request. I love you beautiful people but the decision to do feeds this way made it very hard to transition to the most recent version, and I find myself straddling NP and NPL to get what I want done. My feeds are simply too cluttered to meaningfully tell what is going on (due to news channels as pointed out) and I feel it makes sense to simply have an option to limit the 'what's new' results to just the most recent video for each channel.

Fingers crossed...and thanks again for my most used app bar none.

As a workaround, you can create a new feed excluding news channels and other frequent uploaders and treat that as your What's New feed. But in general, the video number limiting will help newbies with a good first experience as well, I think.
