With release 2020.QRC3, SAP Analytics Cloud introduced an entirely new wrangling engine and began a major overhaul of how analysts work with data. In these exercises, you will take a tour of new smart wrangler in SAP Analytics Cloud.
This workshop consists of a series of exercises to familiarize you with the capability and workflows of SAP Analytics Cloud’s new smart wrangler. You’ll be using it both to create public datasets in the context of story creation. Public datasets can be used just like models in stories, boardrooms and apps. In addition, they can be used in smart predict scenarios and smart predict can export the results of prediction scenarios as datasets. Embedded datasets, created within the context of a story, give the analyst the flexibility of toggling back and forth between wrangling and storytelling at will.
There are three exercises, which collectively use two different data sources.
You may use your own SAP Analytics Cloud tenant and user, or you may use the one provided to you for the session. The provided tenant is a preview tenant, but there is nothing in the exercises that requires a preview tenant. If you are using your own setup, a development or production tenant is sufficient.
Tennant URL: https://ana363.eu10.hcs.cloud.sap
User Credentials - Email: [email protected] to [email protected] Password: Welcome01
There is no guarantee that two people are not trying to use the same user at the same time. If you have a suitable tenant available, we recomend using that instead of the provided tenant simply to have your own personal user. As there are 99 users provisioned on ana363.eu10.hcs.cloud.sap, you can choose from one of nearly a hundred users and we hope to help avoid user collisions this way, but we still can't rule it out.
The two data sources are enumerated in detail in the and are provided to you in that folder as a convenience.
*The first dataset that you will be working with is the one that we’ll refer to in these exercises as the “Shipwreck Dataset”. And comes from the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of Coast Survey.
*The second dataset is a compilation of query data from the United States National Park service data query builder website. We’ll refer to this as the “National Parks Dataset”.
There are three exercises in this workshop.
Exercise 1 will use the shipwreck dataset. It will demonstrate the following features: *Wrangling Basics *Wrangling in an embedded scenario *Geo Dimensions based on latitude and longitude
Exercise 2 will use the National Park Dataset. It will demonstrate the following features: *Creating Level Hierarchies *Geo Dimensions based on location names
Exercise 3 will continue using the National Park Dataset. It will demonstrate the wrangler expression language (WEL).
