The problem
Writing disambiguation files >2000 of them adds substantially to the creation time.
No discernable change has been found with cursory testing to the operation of the system without the files.
No documentation exists about their use.
Solution provided
The MakeFile is modified to add a disambiguate flag and it is set to False.
When false, the disambiguation files are not written.
If there is a need for them, the flag can be set back to True.
