Pokémon Extreme Yellow V1.4

If you are using a savefile from V1.0, make sure to NOT save in Rival's House NOR in Route 4.
If you are using a savefile from V1.1 or V1.2, make sure to NOT save in any of the following maps: Secluded Atoll, Route 4, Cerulean City, Fighting Dojo, Safari Meeting Room, Pewter Gym, Vermilion City.
If you are using a savefile from V1.3, make sure to NOT save in any of the following maps: Route 4, Celadon Condominiums.

Whenever you update from an older savefile, it is highly recommended to be able to Fly/Teleport/Dig/Escape Rope your way out of wherever you may end up being, to minimize the risk of glitches.
Also, check every option you set up, as they may be toggled back after updating from an older savefile.

See the main GitHub info page of the project for all details about Extreme Yellow.

You can obtain your working rom by patching the patch attached here to a base English version of Pokémon Yellow.
You can use an online patcher, e.g. romhacking's.

Enjoy your experience and please report any bug in the Discord server! :)

List of differences with respect to previous version

  • added an option to enable gen-4 physical/special split
  • added an option to have random evolutions happening at every level-up
  • added an option for a new battle GUI that shows more info than the vanilla one
  • added the possibility to turn off trainer rematches
  • fixed bugs related to the usage of the Portable PC in specific areas
  • fixed a bug that prevented rematches against static encounters
  • fixed a bug that prevented the Diploma from being issued when completing the Pokédex
  • fixed a bug that made the AI choose Dream Eater even when the player's Pokémon was not asleep
  • various minor fixes (bugs, glitches, typos)

Known glitches

All of these are glitches I am aware of, that I want to fix but they are quite tough to deal with and cause little-to-no harm to the gameplay:

  • the intro page of the surfing minigame has a random unwanted tile
  • after playing the surfing minigame, the surf enthusiast disappears. It re-appears upon exiting and re-entering the building
  • when using the Portable PC, some tiles may be glitched, specifically the one representing the level of the Pokémon
  • when using the Item Randomization option, the TMs available in the Marts will not correspond to the ones you actually picked up
  • the status screen that shows how many Stat Exp points your Pokémon has gained is not perfectly working and sometimes it shows wrong numbers

Patch

You can download the .ips patch from the Assets below!
Then patch it to a copy of Pokémon Yellow as explained above.
